Geographical location

The village of Vinyols i els Arcs is situated in the southeast side of the Baix Camp county. The township has an area of 10.89 Km². In its boundaries, we find the township of Riudoms in the north, In the east and south, there is Cambrils, and also in the west we find Cambrils, and Montbrió del Camp.

The township used to end by the sea, but there was a change made in agreement with the village of Cambrils, in which it was established that Cambrils would obtain the strip by the seaside (200 metres), and give up some lands situated in the east side of its township.

The village of Vinyols i els Arcs is seven kilometres far from Reus, which is the capital of the county and of the administrative area. About Tarragona, Vinyols i els Arcs is twenty kilometres far from it, which is the capital of the province and of the diocese.

The village is at a height of 95 metres.

Economical activities

The village of Vinyols i els Arcs has always been an agricultural village. The peasants of the village have always been worried about the new techniques that could improve their wealth, and introduced the irrigation system into the unirrigated lands. The village was the first in growing the peach trees that had come from America. In the present, it is the most important crop, although there are some hazel and olive trees.

Almost everybody in there uses the system of located irrigation, called "gota a gota".

As Reus, Tarragona and Cambrils are fairly near to Vinyols i els Arcs, there are few commercial shops. There are only two bakeries, five groceries, one butchery and some others that sell fruits and vegetables.

The industry is important when we refer to the sector called Sant Joan dels Arcs, in reference to the area by the CN-340, where there are different industries (locksmith's craft, carpentry, meat and fish), and also services as the centres of sells of different car firms. There is a big commercial surface called "Esclat", a restaurant, a hotel, a camping of first quality, and a petrol station.
